French Pastry – Classic Mille-Feuille (Napoleon Pastry)
This traditional French Mille-Feuille, also known as a Napoleon pastry, features delicate layers of crispy puff pastry filled with rich vanilla pastry cream. Perfect for elegant desserts, French patisserie lovers, and special occasions.
Ingredients:
1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
2 cups (500ml) milk
4 egg yolks
½ cup (100g) sugar
¼ cup (30g) cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup (250ml) heavy cream (whipped)
Powdered sugar for topping
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Cut puff pastry into 3 equal rectangles. Bake until golden (12–15 min). Cool completely.
For the cream filling: heat milk and vanilla. Whisk yolks, sugar, and cornstarch. Pour in warm milk slowly, return to heat until thick. Cool and fold in whipped cream.
Layer puff pastry and cream (pastry–cream–pastry–cream–pastry).
Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with white icing and chocolate lines.
